Of note:

  • Ethnic foods are on the rise, which can go well with cocktails. If you’re having a signature cocktail, pair it with any predominant ethnic flavors in your food. Think mojitos, caipirinhas and margaritas, depending on what food you’re serving. Sangria is also  widely loved and complements various foods.
  • Creative vessels are fun for guests and can make it easier for them to negotiate cocktail hour. Appetizers that only require one hand are always good.
  • Keep vegetarians in mind — half of these apps are vegetarian-friendly. As Blue Plate’s Jessica McLean puts it: “Non-veggies won’t even miss the meat!”
