Photo Gallery: Mike & Nicole’s Wedding Weekend

Once upon a time, Mike & Nicole (my brother and now sister-in-law) met at a kickball game where they stood side by side while captains chose teams. Nearly a year later, they went on their first date. In June they married in one of the sweetest ceremonies I’ve seen — it included such vows as: “We go together like dogs and funny hats.” It was then followed by a super-hip reception.

One of the elements that made the wedding was the unusual venue: Flora Grubb Gardens, a San Francisco nursery specializing in succulents. Needless to say, this cut down on floral arrangement spending considerably. The nursery’s bistro chairs were set up for the ceremony and  guests helped clear them to make room for a dance floor. A specialty truck with a brick oven served gourmet pizza and salad for dinner. And the adorable dessert table proved to be the hit of the party. Read the photo captions for more details on this one-of-a-kind wedding.

And here are some other ideas for venues if you’re thinking about tying the knot in San Francisco.

I know it was an Etsy find. I think this was the designer: http://clairelafaye.com/. I’ll point the bride towards your comment to double-check me!

yep, it’s claire la faye. her work is on etsy here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/clairelafaye
mine is the Parisian Princess, with a few minor requests to the bottom and back of the dress. Claire was so great to work with, super professional and fast- meanwhile not sacrificing quality. The lady knows how to make a legit dress!
