As much as I love the idea of a trash-the-dress session, I don’t think I’d ever have the guts.
So I’m glad to see there are people out there being gutsy for me. Here we have Michael & Grace, who had a picture-perfect wedding at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea in October. Imagine their guests’ surprise when months later these shots from the day-after-the-wedding popped up?
A photographer friend once told me that she frames these photo sessions as “fun with the dress after the wedding.” That way, brides leery of ruining their dress can still do a similar photo shoot. Instead of rolling around in the sand, they can pose in a hayfield or some other place unusual for a bride and her dress to be. If she wants to keep her dress for posterity, she still can. It may not be the same as gallivanting in the ocean in your gown, but it comes close.
If any brides out there are planning trash-the-dress sessions or have-fun-with-the-dress sessions, I’d love to hear about it. Tell us about your plans in the comments, or if you already have pictures, send them to me at weddings@dexknows.com.
And here’s a video on “Creative Uses for Your Dress After the Wedding.”

Any TTD that involves a beach is fine with me! Such beautiful lighting from the sunset
Hi
What a nice shoot… great work!
Are you still in touch with Grace?
I love to buy the trashed wedding dress as is, no cleaning required.
Please feel free to contact me at herwyn.w@skynet.be or pass my request to Grace.
This is a serious request and for a good work
Thank you for helping me with my project
Wendy
These shots look gorgeous!
I love TTD shoots! The brides always seem so much more relaxed. You’ll never wear the dress again anyway!
