Top Pic: It’s All in the Details

I’ve seen many spectacularly ornate cakes in my day — in fact, you can expect an upcoming photo gallery on some especially wild ones — but when something is simple and well-executed, it can be just as stunning.

Case in point, the above photo. The cake is covered in a plain white fondant, the tiers are edged in elegant “pearls,” and those little red icing flowers look so much like real flowers that I just keep staring at them … and thinking about eating them.
