Have you heard of Bleeding Heart Bakery? They’re in Chicago, and they’re known for their punk rock aesthetics. But applied to wedding cakes.
The bakery has been prioritizing local, sustainable and organic ingredients since it opened in 2004. And if you have a food allergy, these folks are willing to help — they make vegan, sugar-free, gluten-free cakes and more.
I asked Bleeding Heart Bakery to send me photos of their weirdest, most awesome wedding cakes. Take a look at them above!
And in case you’re thinking that these cakes might be all about looks but low on flavor, let me share a cake flavor of the month: the “Veruca Salt,” a vanilla bean cake spiked with black lava, Himalayan red, fleur-de-sel and French gray salts, with salted caramel mousse, caramel buttercream and sprinkled salt and caramel bits.
