
I once did a popular post on engagement photo ideas. Let’s pretend this photo was part of that because it should have been.
Just wanted to point out the clever framing device used here. If you walked by this wall on a normal day, you probably wouldn’t have noticed it. It’s just a painted gray brick wall after all, with a big ole window-like opening. It’s not the sort of thing you look at and think, I need to take a photo.
But stick a few people in that window and the brick wall becomes a really interesting frame. Usually, I warn against wearing black to your engagement photos. Black is often too stark a contrast, especially for daytime photos. But here, the black works beautifully because it’s like the couple melts into the background. And the yellow flats are a perfect little punch of color.
So the moral of the story is: Look for unusual framing devices! And look for smart, local photographers here!
