I’m posting this picture for a few reasons.
It’s an excellent establishing shot. Wedding photographers will send me a bunch of photos and they have all these lovely details, but there’s no photo that shows me how it all comes together. That’s a really giant piece of the puzzle missing for me. It’s important to get that shot of the decor before your guests descend on the scene.
Also, check out the tent poles. You can’t see them. That’s because they’re wrapped. It’s something that probably doesn’t occur to folks that rent tents for the first time, but hiding the mechanics of the tent will really add to the ambiance in a big way. Here, the poles are wrapped in fabric that resembles curtains. See how they frame the space? And then the fabric becomes swagging along the ceiling.
The row of rustic, simple chandeliers really adds something, as does the clear-top tent that allows you to see the sky.
The little things count.
You can learn more about tents in this video about outdoor wedding rentals. And find a tent rental company here.

this is another great tent. Many forget when renting a tent the way it will look in the photographs. Your setting will look so much better in your photos with the right tent not to mention the first dance.
Good point, Angy. A tent isn’t just cover — it’s a setting (that will be photographed!)
My daughter is getting married in march 2012 and are having a hard time finding venues for her her guest list is at least 300 and she would prefer an outdoor wedding, any suggetions? We live in new port Richey Florida near Tampa and would like to keep it in that area. We have a lot of out of towers so close to hotels ect…. Thanks in advance!
Hi Keire — I recommend thinking outside the box a bit. For example, a hotel wedding doesn’t have to take place indoors, such as this lovely wedding at a Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay restaurant: http://wesweberphotographyblog.com/grand-hyatt-tampa-bay-wedding/. And guests could walk home! Hotels in particular are great venues for large parties and often have beautiful outdoor areas.
Good luck on your search!
