It’s Official — I’m Engaged!

unusual proposal

Robert got down on bended knee and everything, and I’m wearing a gorgeous engagement ring on my left ring finger these days!

Saturday, which turned out to be an especially lovely day for so many reasons, included: root beer floats, visiting a funny 50s-style candy shop, a leisurely stroll through our neighborhood, a dinner of fried chicken and biscuits (a favorite of mine), a proposal (!), Moscow mules at a vodka bar, and then dancing with friends to old school hip hop and lots of Stevie Wonder.

So many of my favorites (Robert among them) crammed into one day!

As for the ring, it’s a beauty! The pierced yellow gold Edwardian replica has tiny diamonds embedded in it. It’s so sparkly!

If you’ve been following the blog, you’ve already read about our vintage diamond and the jewelry appraisal process. But our ring has a very special, very winding story, so I’ll be sharing that in forthcoming posts.

Excuse me while I stare at my ring now.

  1. How funny, Alicia, and thank you! I was just wondering how long my ring distraction would last. I was in yoga the other day, and I did a move where I had to stick my hand with the new bling in front of me and look at it, and I was like: “Ooooooh, pretty!” It was not very zen of me, but it made me happy all the same!
